The Artist Reception is Friday, June 29th, 7-10pm
René Capone returns to Live Art Gallery with a new body of narrative watercolor paintings that succinctly juxtapose both eroticism and lurking secrecy. René Capone's art conveys a sense of wonder, exploration and discovery. Set against a fantastical world of mythical dreamscapes, the figures in his work appear to be on a deeply personal quest for identity and their place in the world.
With “Of Birds & Boys” Capone’s paintings and drawings use the male figure combined with abstract elements, ideas from mythology, and images of winged creatures galore to create works with many view points. His interests lye in the communicative possibilities of rendering the figure as away to universally express and inspire.
“When one creates, the endless noise surrounding us gets worked through, and for a time, the world makes sense. After it is done, you have something that communicates. he greatest themes in life are explored through art. Love, hate, jealousy, fear, anger, passion and anything else you can imagine. I believe an artist's job is to tell these stories.”
Capone was born in Niskayuna, New York one of four children to Linda Capone and is of no relation to mobster Al Capone. He attended Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, New York City. Upon completion in 2000, he moved to San Francisco where he currently resides. Collectors of Capone's work can be found in the United States of America, Canada, Sweden, England, France, Japan, and the Netherlands.
